My yoga teacher once told me a story that I have since read in various incarnations across the net. It applies here as starting Yogatopia.org is a necessary step for me to dust off a few of my many layers. As you’re now lost since I haven’t told the story, without further ado:
There once was a homeless man in the middle of the forest who sat for many years atop a dusty old chest. He spent his days begging for money from those who passed by. One normal day, a wise man passed by and the homeless man asked him for money. “Why don’t you dust off that old chest and look inside instead?” put forth the wise man.
“This old thing? There’s nothing inside!” replied the homeless man with frustration in his voice as the wise man walked off without giving him a penny. As time progressed and nobody else passed by, the homeless man grew curious. Jumping from the chest, he began to remove layer after layer of dust that had built up over the years. Once the chest was clear of dust, the homeless man opened and was stunned to find it filled with gold.
When I first began practicing Yoga, I didn’t even realize I was sitting upon a chest. Over time, my chest appeared and holy crap was it covered in dust. And when I say it was covered in dust, I mean mud was caked on this thing. Slowly but surely I have been removing layer after layer of dust. I still have many layers to remove, but that’s quite ok by me. I don’t know if they’ll be removed tomorrow via spiritual dynamite (how cool would that be?) or many years from now, but the important part is I’m removing them. And starting Yogatopia.org is part of that process. I know how beneficial Yoga has already been for me. I would be quite selfish if I didn’t use my knowledge of the internet and websites to create a resource for all those who currently practice Yoga and those who wish to start.
Here’s to each of us finding that gold within ourselves for finding your true Self is more valuable than any tangible item you could ever imagine. May Yogatopia.org help you during your journey.
